Next meeting will be on May 27
This is a group that will broaden the original focus beyond LGBTQIA+ persons to include taking action regarding Jesus call to “take care of the least of these.
We will define what we consider to be “the least of these” in the current culture, especially in the Capital Region. We will determine what types of action we can take to be supportive of these populations. The important word is ACTION.
An organizational meeting was held on March 24. A number of actions were discussed including:
-
-
- reestablish a relationship with the group home on Main Street
- participate in a Crop Walk to benefit food pantries
- create calming kits for children at church and/or schools
- inquire of Shelters of Saratoga what help they need
- create Blessings Bags to hand out to homeless residents
- determine what help animal shelters need, maybe connect with a group called Mr. Moe
- research what it would take to become a “code blue” shelter
-
The Group is trying to address these ideas through many means with solutions that can be accomplished without significant effort on the part of the Group.
Three members will be working on re-establishing a relationship with the group home while two others will be working on Blessing Bags.
