To God Goes The Glory! God Continues To Bless Our Youth Groups!
About Our Youth Groups:
OUR COMMUNITY youth groups (known as Methodist Youth Fellowship “MYF”) are open to 4th – 12th graders represented by three separate groups. Stay on this page to find out more about our youth groups. Click on the red links below to see activities (both upcoming and looking back) by specific Youth Group:
4th & 5th Grade Youth Group – Once a month opportunity
Middle School MYF – (6th – 8th grades): Several opportunities each month
Senior High MYF – (9th – 12th grades): Several opportunities each month
During our fellowship time together, we focus on (1) putting God (through Christ) first in our lives to help us make better choices, (2) learning to accept and celebrate each of our differences remembering we are all created by God, (3) learning to connect with God through practicing the spiritual disciplines of prayer, bible reflection, worship, and service, (4) and experiencing the joy of knowing God with a grateful heart (sharing God sightings). We learn how to live and share our faith as disciples of Christ!
MYF continues to be blessed with dedicated, loving adult leaders who lead as positive role models , taking time to build meaningful relationships, while assuring a safe environment (physically, emotionally, and spiritually) for the youth. All of our safe sanctuary policies are strictly followed including background checks on all adult leaders!
Our activities offer a blend of fellowship opportunities including social gatherings, community service projects, and faith development focused events. We celebrate when youth are able to join us for an activity even if they can only participate occasionally! By any measurement, our youth groups continue to thrive and represent! What a gift from God!
Typical social gatherings during the year include Alpine Slide at Jiminy Peak, laser tag, haunted hayride, church lock-in, Christmas cookie bake, flight trampoline, ice skating, bowling, coffee house, game nights with different themes, movie nights, MYF gatherings, Adirondack Extreme Adventure, and summer parties with water fun.
Some community service projects include serving turkey supper, serving Albany Rescue Mission, sorting items for the food pantry, distributing luminaria, clothes sorting at Schenectady City Mission, collecting food (food pantry scavenger hunt), providing backpacks with school supplies for refugee children in Albany, and serving at summer mission workcamp.
Faith development focused events include our SH Skye Farm Fall retreat, SH District Fall retreat, our SH Saratoga retreat, our MS Pinnacle retreat, spring OUTWARD Conference retreat in Syracuse with 300 other youth, and our week long summer Mission WorkCamp with 400 other youth (this 2019/2020 season to Waverly, NY).
We value parents as an important part of our faith community and we continue to be very grateful for their support.
